The Volkswagen Touran is a compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) manufactured by German automaker Volkswagen since 2003 and sold in Europe and other select markets. It sits between a gap in Volkswagen's model lineup of the Volkswagen Golf, which it shares its platform with, and the Volkswagen Sharan, its larger counterpart.

The new Touran has been acclaimed by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) as the best compact MPV. The Touran is thus one of the most crash-resistant vehicles of 2015. The latest generation of the popular family MPV passed the demanding series of Euro NCAP crash tests back in September and gained the highest rating of five stars.

It was the first time that the organisation rated vehicles for the level of protection offered to child occupants in accidents. In NCAP, vehicles of all classes are tested for safety and crashworthiness. Euro NCAP tested the Touran in 2015 and gave it the expected full five-star score with a 88 per cent rating for adult occupants, 89 per cent for child occupants, 71 for pedestrian protection, and 76 per cent for safety assist.
